The Bond Beauties
In the 60s there seemed to be some similarities for actresses who wished to become the coveted Bond Bombshells. First, they were all born outside of the U.S. (the first American actresses didn't appear in major roles until '71, in Diamonds Are Forever with Jill St. John and Lana Wood). Second, a few of the lucky ladies were beauty queens (Claudine Auger was Miss France in '58, Daniela Bianchi was Miss Italy in '60). Third, the 60s Bond films didn't mind having mature women, with experience (Honor Blackman was 38 in Goldfinger, Diana Rigg was 31 in On Her Majesty's Secret Service). The Bond Beauties of the 60s were exotic, smoldering, cute, sultry, smart, and classic.
