Amazing Grace
Grace Coddington (the Cod), became creative director of American Vogue in 1995 but, first made a splash on the pages of Vogue as a model. In 1959, she won Vogue's 'Young Idea' model contest. She constantly reinvented her image by changing her distinctive red hair from a chunky Vidal Sassoon bob to a halo of frizzy curls. She went on to become one of the magazine's most influential fashion editors. 'She was a Merlin, who could magic the best from a given set of circumstances,' said Barry Lategan, with whom she produced many pictures for in the 70's.
