My Lady of Charlotte
Charlotte Rampling: was born in Sturmer, England in 1946. The daughter of a British Colonel who became a NATO commander and a painter, she was educated at Jeanne d'Arc Académie pour Jeunes Filles in Versailles, France and at the exclusive St. Hilda's school in Bushley, England. She was a model before entering films in Richard Lester's The Knack ...and How to Get It (1965), followed by roles in Georgy Girl (1966) and Luchino Visconti's Caduta degli dei, La (1969). Charlotte was featured in the book Birds of Britain, where they wrote: "Apparently without trying much, she is maintaining an impressive rising graph, from toting a guitar around Spain, through modeling, to acting. There was a flash of a scene in The Knack and quite a slice in Georgy Girl-two crucial movies of the new London-and now onwards. In Georgy Girl she portrayed a swinger, "a really vile and hard sort of woman" in her own words. But, everyone calls her Charly".
